Maryellen usually has a small party for daycare attendees who are celebrating a birthday. Since Henry was not at daycare for his actual birthday, she had balloons and a candle for him today. I went to join and take some pictures. I was glad I was there because I was able to see him take the most steps he has yet and get it on camera for Mark too. Henry was definitely in his element as he showed off for the crowd gathered around to sing him Happy Birthday (his final Happy Birthday this year).
The first of Henry’s two birthday parties took place on Sunday. Since we are going away for his actual birthday (Thursday), we wanted to be able to celebrate with New York friends beforehand. Henry played with friends, played with toys and ate some cake (almost a whole piece on his own). What could be better for an almost one-year-old?
Henry Boy is already eight months old. It is hard to believe our little boy has already been through his first winter and is now enjoying his first spring. A year of firsts is more than half way over. Another first this past weekend: Henry’s tantrums. You wouldn’t know from the pictures and video, but Henry let us experience his first real tantrums. It was quite a change from his normal happy personality. I guessed he might have been mad at me for leaving him last week and was acting out. It is true what they say “everything you do comes back to you.” I was telling Mark about the tantrums I had when I was little. Hopefully Henry’s won’t last until he is 13 years old.
On Saturday we went to Greenwich Village to celebrate with our friends, Chad and Tracy, who threw a party for their son, Gavin’s second birthday.
