Cousin Rachael came into town Monday to stay with us for a bit and check out some graduate school programs in the city. Rachael has not been to New York since she was 12, so we are happy to show her around again. Henry and her instantly became buddies. It was a perfect autumn day to take our guest to Central Park and walk around for hours.
Henry’s grandfather, Paw Paw Butch came in from New Orleans yesterday to visit and celebrate Henry’s birthday on Saturday and his own on Sunday. Today they rode the SeaGlass Carousel in Battery Park before taking the Staten Island Ferry and returning home to have pre-birthday bear cake (as specifically requested by Henry) and play some more.
Henry and his cousin Mae really hit it off the first night of our visit. They hugged, bathed, and ate together. When Mae was not around Henry often repeated “Where is a Mae?, Where is a Mae?” and “I miss Mae, I miss Mae.” Minus a few episodes of yelling “No!” and “Mine!”, they had a fun time together.
For Halloween this year we took Henry trick-or-treating at the American Museum of Natural History after a fun day celebrating with his daycare friends. So he spent most of his day dressed as a T.Rex which was especially appropriate for the museum visit.
Elle, another of Henry’s friends from daycare, celebrated her birthday at Adam Yauch Park in Brooklyn on Saturday.
Henry had his six month weigh-in today. He is doing great at 17.4 Ibs., a three pound gain from two months ago. Henry is also 26 and a quarter inches long. He’s becoming a big boy. Next step, mashed potatoes. Oh, and since he outgrew his previous bear coat, I bought him a new one—this time blue, for spring.
