Henry’s really gonna miss his cousin, Rachael. Hope to see her again soon.
Today’s activities included an excursion to the High Line, a park built on a reclaimed elevated freight train line.
Cousin Rachael came into town Monday to stay with us for a bit and check out some graduate school programs in the city. Rachael has not been to New York since she was 12, so we are happy to show her around again. Henry and her instantly became buddies. It was a perfect autumn day to take our guest to Central Park and walk around for hours.

More highlights of my family’s visit are seen below. Saturday we had a picnic at Sheep Meadow in Central Park. Sunday, we went to a barbeque in Brooklyn at Miranda and Alex’s house. They were great hosts and the kids played and played and played. Although most of our activities were centered around two-year-olds, my sister Julie and nephew Blue were able to sneak away for a night in Times Square and also attended a Yankees game on Sunday night. We missed them all a lot when they left Tuesday afternoon.

Last day, water play.
My family from Wyoming arrived on Thursday night and will be visiting for the long holiday weekend. Friday was a nice day exploring Brooklyn Bridge Park.

More highlights from Henry’s and my trip to Wyoming are seen in this photo gallery. Henry was able to visit most people in my family and everyone really enjoyed seeing him again, especially since he got really sick last time we visited (before he was one year’s old).

Henry and his cousin Mae really hit it off the first night of our visit. They hugged, bathed, and ate together. When Mae was not around Henry often repeated “Where is a Mae?, Where is a Mae?” and “I miss Mae, I miss Mae.” Minus a few episodes of yelling “No!” and “Mine!”, they had a fun time together.
Dinner (grilled cheese sandwiches)…

A leftover from Shannon’s visit. (They did this for hours.)
Shannon returned to N.O. today after her visit. We enjoyed having her here for a while and even though Henry will miss his cousin Shannie, we wish her good luck as she heads off to college at LSU soon.

Henry had previously been to Coney Island when we met Jacqui at the finish line of the Brooklyn Half-Marathon, but he didn’t have the chance to visit the amusement parks or play on the beach. Since his cousin Shannon had never been, we decided to pay a visit, making it Henry’s first actual time at a beach and in the ocean.
Just in case it was unclear where we went.
