We are filling up the last few weekends of summer with plenty of activities. Friday evening, Henry was reunited with a few of his daycare friends at a picnic in Battery City Park. It was nice to see Wren, Sigourney and Aubrey (with parents) for some play time. We hope to continue the reunions semi-regularly as more of the families from daycare return from summer trips and other obligations.
Saturday, we went across the river to Eamonn and Emily’s neighborhood in Jersey City for La Festa Italiana. This is an annual event that raises money for the Holy Rosary Church. It is much like a street fair/carnival with better, more authentic Italian food, cheap wine with peaches and gambling involved. Henry had fun hanging out with the grownups and winning an alien from a baseball throw.

We visited Eamonn and Emily’s new apartment in Jersey City for Easter Sunday. Eamonn’s brother Colm brought their parents who are visiting from Minnesota. We joined them for Easter dinner along with our mutual friend Jessica Ho. Henry provided great entertainment and had us all singing (see video) with him during the wonderful meal that Emily put together. Henry enjoyed lots of ham and running up and down the apartment’s long hallway.

Henry had a somewhat active weekend, playing in the park on Saturday and traveling to New Jersey on Sunday for Hudson Studley’s 1st Birthday party. Henry had a good time running around, yelling, and running around some more and then sleeping on the train home.

Ona-Rain came into town Saturday afternoon. She will be visiting a college outside of New York on Thursday, but wanted to spend a few days with some of her favorite family members beforehand.
Henry, Ona-Rain and I traveled to New Jersey Sunday for brunch with ex-workmates, Dina and Nicole (who visited here in November). Also in attendance was Megan Ward, another ex-workmate saying farewell to New York friends as she heads to Oregon in March to try something new.

Henry and I took the train to Maplewood, New Jersey yesterday. This was our second venture to see Nicole and Trey Studley since their son, Hudson was born in March. This trip was for celebrating Nicole’s birthday.
I met Dina and Nicole in late 2007 when I first started working at Rokkan. Dina was the first to have kids-Madison, the oldest (see pics below) and then Reagan, this past January. Hudson is Nicole’s first baby. It was a different party than we used to have, but still really fun to see a baby at every turn. It will be fun to watch them all interact as they grow and are able to really play together.
Although it has been very humid on the East Coast, Henry’s head is actually wet from an ice cube, not sweat.
