We got a nice Valentine’s surprise from Aunt Juj and Cousin Mae, lots of homemade heart doilies and comic books. We hung the doilies on Henry’s window so Henry could look at them all day. Grandma Lois also sent Henry a few Valentine’s Day themed books and he received a card from Aunt Carol. He loves receiving packages and was really excited about all the gifts.
Recently, we watched a movie that showed the Statue of Liberty in the first scene and ever since Henry has been saying he wants to see the “Schachoo of Liberty”. I would point it out to him on our jogs last summer, but the view from the stroller is not quite the same as seeing it close up while riding the Staten Island Ferry. He was excited and kept saying we were riding a blue boat. He also enjoyed seeing the tugboats and barges passing by. His first time on the ferry was a few years ago and he was only seven months old.
As mentioned in a previous post, Henry has been intrigued by snowmen lately. This started a few weeks ago and his interest has grown since our trip to Wyoming. On our way to daycare each day, we are able to stop and see a snowman decoration in the window of the Liquor Store (J Crew). We stop and point out all its parts, “terret” for carrot nose, and “toes” (but I tell him it doesn’t have toes), “eyes”, “hat”, and “scarf”. Today I accidentally passed it, but he was quick to remind me “mommy, snowman” so we went back and said “hi” and took the picture below. Mark said he stops on the way home from daycare too. Hopefully we can build a real snowman for him at some point this winter.
